I've been working with several of my clients on how to increase customer convenience and streamline services through automation. As a result, I came across a Swedish company called Distec (Distribution Technologies). You may know the company as GoLibrary as it's the brand they use in North America. At any rate, I wanted to share the information with you. The company offers three main products:
1. GoLibrary Books - Acts as an independent library and can be placed anywhere where you wish to provide library service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The machine stores books and handles loans, returns and administration automatically.
2. GoLibrary Media - Developed in response to the need to automate the handling of CDs and DVDs.
3. GoLibrary Reservations - Offers a completely automated reservation system that, again, can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
A few of their installations include: Contra Costa County (CA), Yuba County (CA), and Westchester Library System (NY).

Hi Kim...
ReplyDeleteThe Contra Costa County PLS in California debuted several GoLibrary kiosks in their service area in May 2008 to the great delight of their users. They're calling their kiosks "Library A Go Go." They are a TLC/Carl site, and had the GoLibrary technology adapted to that system. I saw a presentation on the project at the Carl Users Group meeting in September and it looked like great fun.
