I've been working with several of my clients on how to increase customer convenience and streamline services through automation. As a result, I came across a Swedish company called Distec (Distribution Technologies). You may know the company as GoLibrary as it's the brand they use in North America. At any rate, I wanted to share the information with you. The company offers three main products:
1. GoLibrary Books - Acts as an independent library and can be placed anywhere where you wish to provide library service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The machine stores books and handles loans, returns and administration automatically.
2. GoLibrary Media - Developed in response to the need to automate the handling of CDs and DVDs.
3. GoLibrary Reservations - Offers a completely automated reservation system that, again, can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
A few of their installations include: Contra Costa County (CA), Yuba County (CA), and Westchester Library System (NY).
