The Newark Public Library (NY) understands the true meaning of teen involvement in library services. Their teen area opened three years ago due to the collaborative efforts of the Director (Elly Dawson), Youth Services Librarian (Chris McGinty), and several local teens.
A once underutilized staff area located in the Library's basement is now a thriving teen area thanks to forward thinking librarians who welcome the input and ideas of teenagers in their community. Even more incredible...each year the Library has managed to expand and revamp the area to accommodate its growing popularity and keep it fresh and up-to-date. Now that's effective long-range planning!
