Kim is also an Associate Principal Consultant with Providence Associates, LLC based in Cottonwood, AZ and has worked with them since 2008. Kim has been involved in numerous strategic and facilities plans, building projects, and other consulting work. She is the author of Teen Spaces and Technology Made Simple and has consulted with hundreds of libraries, library systems, consortia, and library vendors in over 20 states and abroad. She is active in ALA and various state organizations and serves as a editorial advisor for ALA Editions. Kim was named a Library Journal Mover & Shaker in 2004.
When writing the first edition of Teen Spaces in 2002, teen expert Kimberly Bolan was challenged to find excellent examples. Now, teen spaces abound and interest continues to grow. With a strategic use of web-based technologies—from the author's website to a Flickr account—the new edition will showcase success stories as it reaches out to attract a global community of young adult librarians committed to meeting the needs of young adults.
